The Glory Anthem

We are the lads of Glory
and we'd like to sing to you,
of the ship that once we served in
and were it's motley crew,
but now we're getting older
and we've nothing else to do,
but her name lives on and on.

Glory, Glory, Alleluia, but her name lives on and on.

She started life in Belfast
as a load of rusty steel,
and they welded it together
from her flight deck to her keel,
then sent to the Far East
with the Japs she had to deal,
and her fame spread on and on.

Glory, Glory, Alleluia, and her fame spread on and on.

And later in Korea
she was back at war once more,
against those slant eyed gentlemen
she'd done it all before,
now if our story bores you
you can show us all the door,
and we'll go marching on.

Glory, Glory, Alleluia, and we'll go marching on.

And when that war was over
back to Blighty she did sail,
Lee on Solent, Guzz and Chatham
we had lived to tell this tale,
but now we'll have to leave you
when you're crying in your ale,
but her name lives on and on.

Glory, Glory, Alleluia, BUT HER NAME LIVES ON AND ON.
