The H.M.S. Glory Association was formed around twenty years ago by six shipmates and has grown steadly over the years to the present number of over 250. We meet twice a year thus enabling former shipmates to renew old friendships which we enjoyed under the common bond of our old ship. Our membership covers all commissions, branches and squadrons.
Our A.G.M. is usually held in March and the other meeting around September at a hotel or RNA clubs though out the country which gives everyone the chance to attend wherever they may live. We are a very informal organization and the emphasis is on having a good social get together and the ladies of course are most welcome. We produce a report on each meeting to keep everyone in touch even if they were unable to attend, and our membership does stretch to Canada, USA, Spain and Malta as well as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
We have our own Ship’s Standard which is proudly paraded from time to time at official functions and displayed at most meetings.
If you decide to join us, there is a joining/subscription fee of £5.00 renewable annually every March. Cheques should be made out to "H.M.S. Glory Association", upon receipt of which your details will be passed on to our Treasurer for membership. A full membership listing would then be available to you. Slops are also available from the Treasurer i.e. blazer badges, ties and scarves as well as personalised Glory crested broaches and pins, Ships badges etc.. There is a book
H.M.S. Glory - "The History of a Light Fleet Carrier", the author being Peter Barrett (an Association member), this is available to our members through the association.
